George Washington University Acting Politically for Israel (GAP Israel)
GW Acting Politically for Israel (GAP) is dedicated to supporting and strengthening the U.S.-Israel alliance through involvement in the American political process. We take full advantage of our unique location in Washington, D.C., to advocate for a strong relationship between the two nations. GAP is committed to accomplishing our goals through educating GW students and faculty, the community-at-large, and current and future policy makers about the current issues and challenges surrounding the U.S.-Israel relationship, our mutual interests, and shared values.
Our accomplishments include
- Joint lobbying mission with Yeshiva University to Capitol Hill with over 250 activists to emphasize the importance of Iran sanctions
- GW Student Leadership Dinner featuring The Weekly Standard editor, Bill Kristol, and the leadership of the College Democrats, College Republicans, International Affairs Society, GW Hatchet, ZBT, AEPi, JSA, & Student Association.
- Past speakers include Rep. Ron Klein (D-FL); Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA); Galit Baram, Counselor for Public and Academic Affairs at the Embassy of Israel; and more.
- Recipient of the 2009 AIPAC Duke Rudman Campus Group of the Year Award and 2010 AIPAC Activists of the Year Award
