FREE 10-Day Trip to Israel for College Students!
College students can earn a free 10-day visit to Israel on the CAMERA Fellows student leadership trip from June 14-24. A few spots are available for knowledgeable student activists to join the CAMERA Fellows Representatives. Students are required to write at least two informational pro-Israel Op-Eds in order to participate on the trip. (For details about requirements, contact Aviva@camera.org)
The theme of the trip is "Israel Behind The Headlines: Understanding Media Coverage of the Arab-Israeli Conflict." Students will:
- Learn about Israel's existential struggle and the influential role played by news coverage of events in Israel
- Gain first-hand knowledge of the factors influencing coverage of the Arab-Israeli conflict
- Meet with international journalists, policy makers, world-renowned academics, and government leaders
- Participate in training sessions about media coverage and how to help promote sound reporting
- Visit top Israeli institutions and meet PR experts to learn how to effectively communicate a message
- Tour key sites relevant to news reports.
- Participate on special tours, such as an archeological rescue effort of artifacts from the Temple Mount
- Explore the diversity of Israel
- Mingle with young Israelis
- Highlights from our past trip included a jazz festival at the ancient ruins of Caesarea, tour of a Golan winery, visit to the Tel Aviv beach and a Kibbutz on the Kinneret.
This is a unique opportunity only available to a few select students. Applications are due by April 6, 2009.
